Description of the Research Group

At the Clinical Memory Research Group, Department of Clinical Sciences Malmö, world-leading research is conducted on biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases such as Lewy body dementia and Parkinson's disease.

The research, which has gained international recognition through the BioFINDER projects, has been at the forefront of fluid-based biomarkers and brain imaging for several years, making it possible to detect, diagnose, and prognosticate disease early and accurately. The group is led by Professor Oskar Hansson and Associate Research Group Leader Docent Niklas Mattsson-Carlgren, and consists of research and technical/administrative staff. The activities are located at the Biomedical Center (BMC) in Lund. Job Responsibilities and Duties

We have recently demonstrated in internationally recognized studies that we can diagnose Alzheimer's disease accurately with a simple blood test and also detect the presence of Parkinson-related pathology through analysis of cerebrospinal fluid and skin biopsy. In the future, we will build on these and other research advancements to continue being one of the leading research groups in the world in this field. The position offers the opportunity to work on several of our studies focusing on Alzheimer's disease, in close collaboration with researchers. The workplace is in Lund, but duties in Malmö may occur.

As a laboratory assistant, you will be responsible for sample handling and analyses in our large cohort studies, which include thousands of samples. Statistical analyses, report writing, and other tasks within the research group may also be relevant. Together with other research staff, you will plan your tasks based on the needs of the operation and your competence.

Qualifications

The following are required for the position:

  • Master's degree (or higher) in biomedicine or equivalent.
  • Experience in similar tasks.
  • Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The tasks require you to be meticulous, detail-oriented, systematic, and responsible. You also need to have the ability to prioritize in varying work tempos.

Meritorious for the position are:

  • Experience in laboratory work, including analyses with Meso Scale Discovery and Simoa platforms.
  • PhD or planned defense before starting the position.
  • Experience in research on neurodegenerative diseases.

Other

The position is a fixed-term employment (SÄVA) for 12 months with a preliminary start date of March 1, 2026, or by agreement. Full-time position (100%).
